Tree Bumblebee

Our first Tree Bumblebee of the year flew south over the cliffs this morning, after a brief inspection of the bus shelter - a nice Queen with bright white tail tip and vivid ginger-rufous thorax. New to Norfolk as recently as 2008 and new to the UK only in 2001, the species is now widespread. It seems to be quite numerous in Hunstanton as I had several in my garden last year. It nests in trees - hence the name - not a common trait among the bumblebees. I didn't get a snap today, but here's a poor photo of one in my garden last year:
